ACT! Corona Update
Field Report
September 27th, 2011
Last week, the ACT! Corona Newsletter focused on two Southern California City Council members who have been attacked by CAIR (Council on American Islamic Relations) for statements the have made.  This attack, and the request for retraction and apology by CAIR, is direct assault on our Constitutionally guaranteed right to free speech.  You will find details of this below.

Tonight, 5 members of ACT! Corona joined with 40+ other citizens in attending the City of Orange City Council meeting in of support Councilmember Dumitru and his right to free speech.  Many of those in attendance spoke directly to the Council during the public comment portion of the meeting.

Please watch the recording of this meeting on the City of Orange web site.  A great deal can be learned by listening to this group of speakers.  Most have been studying this issue for quite a while...its a great eduction.  Click the link below.

Then click the word 'video' to the right of the September 27 in the archive as shown below.
Advance to the 31:30 minute mark to begin the public comment portion.
Councilmember Dumitru's remarks conclude at 1:39:20.

Watch Councilmember Dumitru's comments at the end...we need more elected officials like this who are willing to stand up to CAIR and their assaults.

When these attacks on our Constitutionally protected rights occur, we need to stand up and let our voices be heard.  It is your right to speak at City Council meetings...use it or loose it.  Elected officials want to hear from the community on these matters of great importance.  Every city council meeting has a portion allocated to allow the public to address the council on topics related to city business.

I want to thank those members who took the time to attend this meeting, as well as all who were in attendance.  Their dedication is greatly appreciated.

Derek Reeve, San Juan Capistrano City Councilman
Jon Dumitru, City or Orange Councilman
Derek Reeve, San Juan Capistrano City Councilman, is being attacked by CAIR because of the name of his dog.  It seems one of his dogs is named America, and the other is Mohammed.  While perhaps not the best name for a dog, Mr. Reeve has the right to name his dog whatever he likes...he owns the dog. For more background, read this article. Reeve's facebook page is here.
Orange City Councilman Jon Dumitru is under fire from CAIR and has been asked to apologize for a 911 remembrance he posted on his facebook page.  You can find the post in question here.  And the problem is...???  Read CAIR's Press Release here.   For more background and perspective, read this and this article.

Terrorism Expert Steve Emerson: ''The history of CAIR is one of the biggest scams in United States history''.  In the brief segment on Hannity and Colmes, Emerson manages to reveal more about CAIR than has probably ever been aired by the mainstream media before.  What the segment are read analysis by the Investigative Project on Terrorism here.
CAIR offers a benign mission statement - "to enhance understanding of Islam, encourage dialogue, protect civil liberties, empower American Muslims, and build coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding." But a closer look at the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) raises a host of troubling questions about its history and purpose. Read more about its origins, funding and ties to the Muslim Brotherhood and Hammas.
Daniel Pipes writes that while CAIR presents itself as an advocate for Muslims' civil rights, there is another side that has alarmed many people in a position to know. Department of Homeland Security, the FBI and other security agencies either refuse to deal with them, or have severed ties with them.  Read more about how care operates in this expose here.
